My November/December column, “Listen…Do You Want to Know a Secret,” promised to provide more examples of rainbow phrases in hit songs by The Beatles, examples that you could use to improve your own songwriting, regardless of style. At first I thought it would all fit in a single blog post, but after I got started, I was all-in for another e-book.
About a hundred espressos and a hundred pages later, “Making Rainbows — The Beatles Way; 80 Songs, 54 Songwriting Exercises” was finally done. You can approach “Making Rainbows” on any level: as pure fun (just listen to the rainbow phrases in the songs), or as an in-depth handbook to better songwriting. The best part is you can get it for free just by emailing American Songwriter at info@americansongwriter.com.
If you have any questions about anything in the book, please feel free to email me at composeyourself@live.com. Your questions may become topics for a future blog post.
