Wilco Announce The Whole Love, New Tour Dates

Videos by American Songwriter

Chicago rockers Wilco have picked a name and a release date for their much-anticipated eighth studio album. The Whole Love will be released September 27 via their new label, dBpm Records. The new disc was recorded at the band’s Loft studio space in Chicago, and was produced by Jeff Tweedy with band member Patrick Sansone and Tom Schick, who’s worked with Paul McCartney, Rufus Wainwright and Sonic Youth.

If you like Wilco’s epic jams, you’ll be excited to hear that the album begins with the seven-minute “Art Of Almost” and ends with the 12-minute “One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley’s Boyfriend).” Who’s Jane Smiley? Perhaps they’re referring to the American novelist who earned the Pulitzer prize for A Thousand Acres.

The album also includes the single “I Might,” which you can read about and listen to here.

Wilco will hit the road with Nick Lowe (whose “I Love My Label” they recorded for the “I Might”‘s B-Side) for the first leg of their North American tour, beginning September 13 in Indianapolis.
