On Saturday night, the Ryman Auditorium came alive for Halloween. In attendance were one Devo, one priest, one Alvin and the Chipmunks, one Larry the Cable Guy, one Mrs. Potato Head, one double rainbow, one guy in a bunny suit, and five Avett Brothers. The Avetts staggered onto the stage dressed like mummies, and transformed themselves into the devil’s string band. Fortunately, their constrictive outfits did nothing to prohibit their ability to rock the house, or raise the dead. The Avetts killed it, as per usual.

Opening the show were fiery roots rockers Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who were joined by country star Kenny Chesney for a reading of their Hemingway’s Whiskey duet “You & Tequila.” (Photos by Dylon Walker.)
