Winter, spring, summer, and fall — the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Tweedy’s seasonal-affective disorder blues yield gorgeous results on this droning cut from the Loose Fur canon. First heard in December 2000 at Abbey’s Pub in Chicago, the song began its life as a solo acoustic number called “Not For the Season.” Then it became a Wilco song, and made a memorable appearance in the 2002 band documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart. Along the way, it mutated until it became a droning, electric guitar-drenched Loose Fur Frankenstein monster. Also somewhere along the way, it picked up the name “Laminated Cat.”
However, no cats were laminated during the making of this song.
